Shaving or waxing is often time-consuming and doesn’t usually yield the results that you desire. One of the exciting treatments we’re proud to offer here at the Georgia Center for Female Health is laser hair removal. This is a procedure that is about more than just quickly getting rid of hair from the surface of your skin. A laser beam is used to destroy the hair follicles, keeping them from growing future hair.
What Can I Expect
When you have laser hair removal performed to get rid of unwanted hair, the pigments that are in your hair will absorb the light from the laser. This is how the hair is destroyed. You can have laser hair removal performed on almost any area of your body, including the face, arms, legs, and bikini area. One of the benefits of laser removal is that it’s a bit more precise than using a razor or even wax. When hair is targeted and removed, the skin in the area is left without any damage.
If only takes a few seconds for the laser process to be completed. Several hairs can be treated at once so that you’re not in the office for a long time. Facial skin can usually be treated in less than a minute while larger areas of your skin can be treated in less than an hour depending on how much hair you wish to have removed. It usually takes about three sessions to begin seeing optimal results of your laser hair treatments. However, results will vary.
How Can I Prepare
Consult with our specialists regarding laser hair removal and how you should prepare for the procedure. Stop plucking or using other methods of hair removal for about six weeks before treatment. This is because the roots of the hairs are targeted by the laser instead of only the hair that you see on the surface of your skin. About six weeks is long enough for the root to be established, giving the best results from the laser treatment process.
When you arrive for your appointment, a small fragment of the top of your hair will be removed in the area that will be treated. Equipment used for the procedure will then be adjusted based on the pigment of your hair and the thickness. If you have thick hair, then it could take a few sessions for the treatment to completely work.
