There have been many babies born with the doctors at Georgia Center for Female Health and we’re so blessed to partake in the joy of helping women give birth. I ran into one of my patients when she returned for annual examination and thought I’d share her story because it is a testimony to the glory of God that they are even here. Cyron Saunders was 35 years old when she came to see me for prenatal care.
This was her 9th pregnancy because she had had eight miscarriages. Although these pregnancy losses were heartwrenching, Cyron was determined to have a child. So, we sent her to a specialist in high risk pregnancies and she got some advice and we started her on medication to support the pregnancy. However, she lost the baby again.
Not one easy to discourage, Cyron became pregnant again. When I saw her she was 6 weeks. We did the medication again and placed her on complete bedrest from 8 weeks for the duration of the pregnancy. I spoke to her about remaining positive and we had to fill out multiple inquiries and paperwork about the bedrest from her job. She had to go into the hospital from 22 weeks due to her cervix beginning to open. We put her into the Trendelenberg position (head down) in the hospital bed from 24 weeks. The inspiring thing is that Cyron was so willing to do whatever it took. When she became discouraged, I spoke to her some more and she easily took back her position of thinking positively and continuing to pray.
There were things happening in her life that might have had the impact of making her discouraged. For example, her husband lost his job and without her income (due to being in the hospital) the family lost their home and had to move in with the in laws. Sometimes she would get discouraged and I would remind her that God is in control and to hold on to the positive outcome that we both wanted. Anyway, we delivered George Saunders Jr by Cesarean Section and although premature, he was a healthy baby boy. For her, a dream come true.
But her story doesn’t end there. She was excited about having the miracle child, and thought that would be it. However, she became pregnant again. Well, we plugged the second child into the same formula and it worked a second time and little Celina was born. I think this was too much for her husband George and he decided that they were going to just be grateful for the two children that they have (plus they had one boy and one girl) and so Celina was the last child that they had. Celina was the 12th pregnancy.
From this position as an ob/gyn doctor, one can see the Lord manifest everyday and it feels as if one is just an ambassador allowing Him to manifest himself as He sees fit.
