For many patients, micro-needling has become the treatment of choice for reducing signs of aging, sun damage, or acne scars. This minimally invasive technique has become popular here at the Georgia Center for Female Health for numerous reasons, including its ability to offer excellent skin rejuvenation results without the need for hospitalization or extensive downtime.
Micro-needling involves the delivery of safe, controlled micro-channels to the very surface layers of your skin. In most cases, these tiny channels will not be visible to the naked eye. Your body responds to the treatment by filling in these microscopic passageways with fresh collagen fibers. The treatment stimulates a self-repair process that offers results that appear youthful and natural.
Micro-Needling Natural Results
Micro-needling treatments do not involve the injection of any foreign substances or the implantation of exotic materials. However, you may not notice immediate results after your treatment. Instead, your results will build gradually over the following weeks and months. This is one of the reasons that people love the treatment; it leads to results that appear very natural and youthful. We are essentially harnessing the power of your body’s own innate restorative abilities.
The vast majority of micro-needling patients are able to resume their normal daily activities immediately after their treatment. A treatment session offers you real results that can even rival some forms of cosmetic surgery. Since we are not forming incisions, or damaging your skin to a large degree, less healing time is required. Your body will do most of the work in the following weeks and months after your treatment.
Works With Other Treatments
Although it makes an extremely effective skin rejuvenation treatment by itself, micro-needling works extremely well with other types of skin treatments. The outer layer of your skin, medically known as the stratum corneum, can act as a barrier to prevent topicals with larger molecular sizes from penetrating very far into your skin. This greatly limits their effectiveness. A needling treatment creates tiny channels in the superficial layer, allowing topicals to bypass this outer barrier, penetrate more deeply, and become much more effective than they are on their own.
Micro-Needling With PRP
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), is created within a small sample of the patient’s own blood. It contains natural growth factors that dramatically speed healing and help to rejuvenate skin damaged by UV radiation, pollutants, and the aging process.
We withdraw a certain amount of your blood, and spin it in a centrifuge. This separates and concentrates platelets that contain growth factors to speed up the healing process. PRP can be combined with a micro-needling treatment for enhanced absorption and penetration. The technique helps to rejuvenate skin tissue and can even regrow natural, health hair.
