Pregnancy can be exciting and nerve racking for some women. Our practice is here to provide attentive care for our patients during this wonderful journey. Here are some of the services we offer.
You have quite a few doctor’s appointments while you’re pregnant. Dr. Jean-Gilles suggests seeing you at least once a month for the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Then, you have bi-weekly appointments until week 36.
From that point, you have a weekly appointment until you deliver your baby. If you have a high-risk pregnancy, for example, if you’re over the age of 35, or if you develop an issue like preeclampsia, you’ll have more frequent prenatal checkups.
Prenatal appointments allow Dr. Jean-Gilles to monitor your health, as well as the health and development of your baby. You benefit from the opportunity to ask Dr. Jean-Gilles questions about your pregnancy and your health as your body changes to accommodate your growing baby.
If any issue develops during your pregnancy, Dr. Jean-Gilles is able to diagnose it quickly and provide treatment and support to keep you and your baby healthy and strong.
Then, as you get closer to your delivery date, Dr. Jean-Gilles can further customize your care to help you have a safe and smooth delivery.
These appointments allow you and Dr. Jean-Gilles to see your baby, measure its development, and identify its sex.
Dr. Jean-Gilles and the team measure you, weigh you, and check your blood pressure at every appointment. They also listen to your and your baby’s heartbeats.
At certain points during your pregnancy, you’ll have specific tests to check for issues like gestational diabetes and developmental milestones for your baby. You also have a few ultrasounds — either traditional or 3D, if you opt for it — during your prenatal visits.
V-bac stands for vaginal birth after cesarean. Historically, if you’ve had a cesarean delivery, any subsequent births must also be cesarean. However, Dr. Jean-Gilles respects the wishes of many women who prefer to have a natural birth and does his best to accommodate you.
Dr. Jean-Gilles has a high success rate with v-bac deliveries. He carefully monitors your progress and the structural integrity of your uterus and cesarean scar for any signs of danger. If your life or the life of your baby seems to be at risk, he can quickly perform a cesarean.
