The Benefits of a PRP Facelift

PRP facelift

Is a PRP facelift a real facelift procedure? Well, not really. But once you’ve had this procedure performed, your friends might think you’ve actually gone under the knife due to the amazing results that it can produce.

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a highly concentrated amount of blood platelets in a small amount of blood plasma. It was originally developed for the acceleration of wound healing, especially injuries to tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. Today, it’s more widely recognized as an alternative treatment for facial skin wrinkles and blemishes. This treatment actually smooths the skin surface, so the result is much the same as a surgical facelift procedure.

The client’s own blood is used for the treatment, so that’s why the procedure is often referred to as a vampire facelift. In this treatment, the injection of PRP into and beneath the skin is combined with dermal filler injections for maximum results. What’s important to remember is that the procedure involves no actual surgery, making it appealing to a very wide segment of the population.

What are the Benefits?

The most striking benefit of a PRP facelift procedure is smoother facial skin and less drooping, sagging, or creasing. The skin layers quickly produce a good deal of new tissue.

Smoother skin with fewer wrinkles means a more youthful appearance. Sags along the jawline are less prominent after this treatment, and even larger creases such as nasolabial folds are less noticeable. This is accomplished without the need for surgery.

Blood platelets help clots to form when we bleed. They also act as signaling mechanisms for the creation of replacement tissue when an injury occurs. Growth factors help speed up the distribution of nutrients.

In other words, the platelets help out with tissue creation when an injury occurs. When the platelets are highly concentrated in a small amount of plasma and injected beneath the skin layers, the body responds as if an injury has occurred. This means accelerated growth of replacement tissue as well as an increase in collagen production. When dermal fillers are used in conjunction with the procedure, the results can be truly amazing.

Long-Term Benefits

Once treatments are complete, the results last for quite a long time. In most cases, we don’t feel the need to suggest a maintenance schedule of follow-up injection sessions for quite a while. Since no surgery was performed, no scarring occurs, not even at the injection sites.

This is a very simple procedure that’s gaining in popularity. Learn more about the benefits of a PRP facelift by contacting us today at Georgia Center for Female Health and scheduling a personal consultation at our office in Peachtree Corners.
