What is ThermiVa™?
ThermiVa™ is a state-of-the-art treatment that uses the power of radiofrequency energy to correct many of the most common problems women experience with their genitals as they age. This procedure is performed in the comfort of our office by our trained medical practitioners.
How Does it Work?
The radiofrequency energy used in ThermiVa™ treatments is delivered through an “S” shaped handpiece. During treatment, this handpiece gently heats both the internal and external tissue of the vagina. This heating stimulates the body’s natural healing process, causing nourishing blood to rush to the vaginal tissue along with rejuvenating growth factors. Over time, this healing response helps rebuild structural proteins, increase blood flow for tissue nourishment, and stimulate nerve enhancement in the area.
Each treatment typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes to complete and involves only a brief period of downtime. It is recommended that most patients undergo three treatments, each spaced between four and six weeks apart, to get dramatic vaginal rejuvenation results. The effects of this series of treatments typically last between nine and twelve months.
What can it Treat?
ThermiVa™ can be used to address many of the most common problems women have with their vaginas as they age, including:
- Vaginal laxity
- Vulvar or labial laxity
- Vaginal or vulvar dryness
- Stress incontinence
- Sexual or orgasmic dysfunction
Am I a Good Candidate for ThermiVa™?
Nearly any woman suffering from vaginal laxity, sexual dysfunction, orgasmic dysfunction, or minor stress incontinence is a potential candidate for a ThermiVa™ procedure. However, patients currently suffering from a bladder infection or experiencing vaginal pain should undergo a clinical examination before beginning treatment. It is not safe for women suffering from vaginismus to undergo this procedure.
